A magyar nyelv Ukrajnában (Kárpátalján)

Abstract

Jelen munka tárgya a magyar nyelv helyzete Ukrajnában. Mivel azonban Ukrajnában csak Kárpátalján élnek őshonos közösségként magyarok, a magyar nyelv is csak Kárpátalján használatos több funkcióban az országban, elemzésünkben elsősorban Kárpátaljára koncentrálunk. Az adatközlés, helyzetjelentés mellett a munka célja egy olyan nyelvkömyezettani, nyelvökológiai1 áttekintés elkészítése és közzététele, amely a jövőben kiindulópontja lehet a magyar nyelv és a magyar nyelvet használó közösség helyzetében mutatkozó változások feltárásának. Mivel Kárpátalja többnyelvű és többkultúrájú régió, a kárpátaljai magyarság nyelvi helyzetének elemzése során megkülönböztetett figyelmet fordítunk a kétnyelvűség vizsgálatára.Abstract. The book’s nine chapters are devoted to the social, political, economic, and linguistic factors which shape the sociolinguistic situation of the autochthonous Hungarian national minority in southwestern Ukraine. The author characterizes the situation of Hungarian in Subcarpathia as ambiguous. Several factors promote language maintenance but others work for the dissolution of the community. To the former belong the current d e ju r e situation of the Hungarian minority, the revival of old and the establishment of new Hungarian organizations and institutes, and the revival of Hungarian churches. The factors which bode ill for the future include increasing emigration, the ever-worsening economic situation of those who stay, and recent political developments which point to a possible abandonment of Ukrainian tolerance to minorities.
