A beregszászi református temető általános jellemzése

Abstract

Kárpátalja településeinek története napjainkban is kevés szakirodalommal rendelkezik, így több aspektusú vizsgálata nem veszített aktualitásából. Beregszász történetével kapcsolatosan néhány monográfia, turisztikai kiadvány és brosúra is keletkezett az utóbbi évszázad során, melyek közül a legkidolgozottabb Lehoczky Tivadar Bereg vármegye monográfiája és Csanádi György Sorsfordító évek sodrásában című kötete. Ezek a művek áttekintést adnak a település történeti korszakairól, de nem használják azt a fontos kortörténeti forrást, melyet a temető névanyaga, síremlékei, szimbólumai árulnak el számunkra. Így kutatásunk legfőbb aktualitása ezen forrás mélyebb megvizsgálása és felhasználása Beregszász múltjának megismeréséhez. Kultúránk folyamatosságát, identitásunk megőrzését biztosító szimbólumok, sírjelek ma csak díszek, jelentésük alig ismert. Régebben az embereknek a sír volt a fontos, ami a túlvilágba, az égbe vezető utat is jelentette, a sírjel pedig az ősökkel való kapcsolat szimbóluma volt. A munka ezen jellegzetességek elemzése céljából készült.Abstract. The investigation of the history of Transcarpathian territory lacks the appropriate amount of literature, thus its extensive examination does not lose its topicality. Concerning the history of Beregszász, there have been some monographs, historical publications and brochures published during the last century, among which the monograph of Bereg county by Tivadar Lehoczky and the writing titled Sorsfordító évek sodrásában by György Csanádi are the two most important to be mentioned. These works give historical overview of the era and ages of the town, but do not use the important resource that the cemetery’s onomastic research, tombs and symbols could give and show us. Thus, the main goal of this study is the profound examination of this resource in order to dig deeper into the history of Beregszász. The symbols and graves ensuring the preservation of our cultural identity nowadays are just decorations, while their meaning is hardly known. In the past graves were important for the people, meaning the path to heaven, to the afterlife and the tombs meant the relationship, the connection with the ancestors. The goal of this work is to analyze these features.
